Widening The Lens On Gratitude
As Thanksgiving approaches, I’ve been thinking about the nature of gratitude and the different perspectives we might embrace during this time of reflection.
Traditionally, we express thanks for the abundance in our lives: family, friends, health, and prosperity. Yet, this year, I’d like to invite you to consider the less obvious blessings.
For example, consider the challenges you may have experienced that have strengthened your resilience, the setbacks that redirected you to new opportunities, and even your regular routines that provide your days with structure and stability.
This Thanksgiving, I encourage us to acknowledge and appreciate the growth that has occurred from the difficulties we have overcome, the comfort in our familiar schedules, and the small acts of kindness that we experienced throughout the year.
Moreover, let's extend our gratitude outward even more by showing greater empathy and generosity to those around us. Whether it's a word of encouragement, a smile, a loving gesture, or extra support for those in need, every kind action sows the seeds of a more compassionate community.
May this Thanksgiving be an opportunity to widen the lens through which we view gratitude, enriching and deepening our appreciation for the countless ways life teaches and touches us.
