Uncertainty Can Serve You Rather Than Deplete You

How have you been feeling lately?

If you’ve been feeling tired (and maybe even exhausted) trying to keep up with staying positive in the face of uncertainty, you're not alone.

I was recently in a meeting with a group of very high achieving women. As I was listening to the discussion, I noticed that a lot of the women were experiencing a common feeling.

They were talking about how hard it is to endeavor in the uncertainty of things and that even though they try to stay positive, it's hard to continue "not knowing" what's going to happen.

This struck a chord with me because I know that all of us have felt some version of this, especially in 2020.

So today I’d like to share my thoughts with you on how to face uncertainty in a way that serves you rather than depletes you.

The truth is, you never know what's going to happen next. You've always lived with uncertainty. Every moment is uncertain. So it’s not that uncertainty is new, it’s that your perception of uncertainty has changed.

You FEEL more uncertain because the world doesn’t look like it did in 2019, and that can raise alarm bells in your subconscious mind.

But if you decide to accept that life is uncertain, you can take your power back and reframe that inevitable uncertainty as an ally, rather than an enemy.

Notice that when you keep having thoughts of struggle, worry, and problems, they just seem to multiply. You just stay on that vibration and keep recreating that experience. The only way to stop creating more of the same is to take a different approach and a different perspective.

What if instead of feeling like you have to keep pushing, and reacting and trying to stay positive and feeling exhausted you could take a deep breath? And in that space perhaps even find a gift in the situation, rather than a burden.

Napoleon Hill said, “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”

There is a seed of good in every situation. You may not prefer being in the circumstance you’re in, but it may be the exact thing you need to help you discover all that you are and all that you are capable of becoming.

When you look back at your life, have there been times of adversity that shaped you into who you are today?

Were there circumstances that you didn’t ask for, and perhaps were tragic, but taught you strength and love as never before?

Perhaps with the pandemic, the seed of good is that it caused all of us to slow down enough to really see that and appreciate what is and what we do have and what matters most.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget about the bigger picture. But when you’re forced to slow down, you can’t help but evolve and change. It’s your choice whether it’s a painful process or an enlightening one.

I believe this is an incredible opportunity to be grateful. To be present with what truly matters to you, and to acknowledge how precious life is.

And the incredible thing is, when you choose to look for the gift that is within the difficulty, it only helps make your life better. When you choose to welcome the gift in every situation, you begin aligning to gifts, rather than struggles.

You will have a greater sense of ease, clarity and resilience. Things will line up in unexpected ways, and you will be able to see solutions and possibilities that were unavailable to you before.

And when things do return to "normal," you'll carry a greater awareness that no matter what, you are capable of being resilient, flexible, creative, inventive and resourceful.

And you’ll be able to enjoy life more, because you don’t know what may happen next… and that’s a wonderful opportunity to really appreciate the moment that you're in today.

Stay well, and know you are powerful beyond measure.
